Bullfrogs & Butterflies

We're back from Guam and just in time to make my card for this week's Delightful Inspiration challenge. This week's image is "Bullfrogs & Butterflies". You can see more of the many wonderful Designed2Delight Digital stamps here. For this image, I thought at once the googly eyes I have in my stack of embellishments and just perfect for the bullfrog's  eyes! I made a simple layout for my card 'cause I'm thinking of a card for a guy. I always make girls' cards and only a few for young boys or guys. Generous of Faith to include sentiments for this week's image and good for me 'cause I don't have to spend time searching for the right sentiment. I only have a day to make my card and I think "Oh Hoppy Day" is just so cute for my design. And tadahh, here's my card:
I love paper-piecing flowers because it gives them texture and life. This time however, I doubled the petals and just attached the center with a brad on the second one. The polka dot design was in plain white and black dots so I just colored them to match the background paper. I think this would really be useful because I can always color it according to the color scheme of my projects. For the bullfrog's eyes, I intended to use a different set which is really perfect for this image. It was with green lids and black lashes and smaller in size. But poor me, while I was letting the twinkling H20's dry on the bullfrog, I lost one of the pair and couldn't find it. I only have one set so I have to settle for the plain one with no lids and lashes.

Shaker card

Today is Palm Sunday, the start of the Lenten Season. After hearing mass, had our Palms blessed, I started to work on my entry for the Delightful Inspiration Progressive Challenge this week. I had to start making my entry a little earlier than usual because my family and I are going for a vacation outside the country. Since it's a progressive challenge, I don't wanna miss the next freebie image which I'm sure is another cute one.
This week's freebie is a Ladybug Balancing Act available at Designed2Delight digital stamps. For my design, I made a flower shaker card. I've been wanting to make a shaker card and I finally made one! The sentiment is from TlcCreations. Here's my card:
To make this, I colored the ladybugs, stem, leaves and grass and paper-pieced the flower on the first layer. Before attaching the second layer of the flower and ladybugs, I had to make the shaker container for the flower center. I did this by cutting a strip of peach board paper, glued the ends together like a ring. The thickness of the ring should be about the same height of the foam adhesives to be used for the ladybugs for equal dimensions. I then glued the ring to the first layer and fill it with seed beads. I used only few beads so they will move around when I shake the card. To make the window cover of the shaker, I paper-pieced another flower, cut the center and cover it with plastic transparency at the back. I then glued it to the ring. For the ladybugs, I cut 3 images sans the antennae and legs and stick with foam adhesives.

Garden Party freebie

This week's freebie for the Progressive challenge at Delightful Inspiration is a cute Garden Party image. It's one of the many wonderful images at Designed2Delight digital stamps. For my design, I chose bright red with bit of yellow and green for the color theme. I decoupaged the flowers for dimension. I also paper punched an open gate to both sides of the image as some sort of welcome to the garden party.
Here's the finished card:
My daughter Athena, just loved my coloring technique on the flowers. I'm surprised because she's not much into floral prints and design. I'm so glad she liked it. And aren't these two mice and bug cute? I bet they couldn't wait to eat that yummy cupcake.

To also set the mood for the garden party, I paper-pieced this banner, a freebie from Lindsay Stamp Stuff, as decor with the word CELEBRATE.

I also made this card using the Garden Party image and Ladybug Kaela with the hat. I found this really great sentiment from TlcCreations which is so perfect for Ladybug Kaela.

Delightful Inspiration Challenge

Finally I'll be able to join a Progressive Challenge at Delightful Inspiration! This week's freebie is a lovely Spotty Dotty Watering Can by Designed 2 Delight digital stamps. Everyone who plays win a digital stamp. How cool is that! I recently purchased some of their digital stamps particularly Kaela and Drew sets and I really love them! And because I'm so excited to use them, for my entry this week, I combined the freebie watering can and Ladybug Kaela. I think they are perfect pair for the easel card design I had in mind. Here's my D2D easel card:

Here's a close-up of Ladybug Kaela and Spotty Dotty Watering Can (the sentiment is a freebie from Scrapalicious Times) :

I have another card which was the first one I did but mistakenly glued the background design. I planned it as an easel card but due to my mistake I just made it a regular card. Here's another version:
